Homecoming Week

We are celebrating our 75th anniversary this fall.  We will be hosting events that include students, parents, staff, former staff and alumni.

Monday, Sept. 21, 7 to 8:30 am – “Meet the Staff” breakfast for current Westglen families.

Tuesday, Sept. 22 to Thursday Sept. 24, 8 to 8:30 am– “Westglen Challenge”; all families, friends, alumni and former staff are invited to join our morning walks.

Wednesday, Sept. 23, 5:00 to 7:30 pm– “Evening with Tommy Banks”.  This is a ticketed event, co hosted by Westglen School and the Edmonton Public School Foundation. This Foundation fundraiser will be held at the Enjoy Centre.

Thursday, Sept. 24, 9:00 to 10:00 am– “Alumni morning coffee and school tour”.

Thursday, Sept. 24,  2:30 to 4:00 pm– “Former Westglen Staff meet and greet”.

Friday, Sept. 25 – “Alberta Culture Day Celebrations”, all day event for current students.

Funding was provided by Alberta Culture through the Community Initiative Program for the celebration activities.

Tile Mosaic

Westglen students will be working with artist Debra Bryan to create a lasting memory of our 75th anniversary celebrations.  In October, students will be creating a tile mosaic to be hung above the gym entrance.  Debra Bryan has worked with many Edmonton Public Schools and is highly regarded for her program.  

The Finale Celebration

We are looking forward to our 75th Anniversary Finale production, honoring our past and present.

The play titled My Westglen Family written by, Charlene Clarke-Todoruk, adapted from Behind the Ivory Stucco: A History of Westglen School, by Erika Luckert will be presented by Westglen students.

DancED will be returning to Westglen to choreograph the dance elements of this performance.

Thursday, Nov. 26, 6:30 pm – Cameo performance by honored guest and alumnus, Tommy Banks

Friday, Nov. 27, 1:00 pm – Afternoon Matinee

Friday, Nov. 27, 6:30 pm – Cameo performance by honored guest, Asani (Heather Pocklington, alumna).

Please note, these performances will take the place of the annual Christmas Concert this year.  All students will be involved in the anniversary performance.
